I care in particular about the philosophical attitude that Floridi has. Philosophy must be relevant. As philosophers, we should engage with the issues of our time, understanding them and developing a conceptual framework to cope with them. Of course, the problems of out time are not exhausted by the philosophy of information; the point is simply to put our efforts on things that are relevant. I don’t understand how the question, say, of whether ordinary objects really exist could be considered more urgent — or even more interesting actually — then that of how to rethink our identities in the era of social media. It suscitates a strange anxiety in me the though that questions of the first kind are getting much more attention in contemporary philosophy.
